Stray Kids on the Western Celebrities Who Showed Kindness at the 2024 MET Gala

Stray Kids recently shared their experience in an interview with Billboard, focusing on their historic appearance at the 2024 MET Gala on May 6. Members Bang Chan and Felix provided insight into the event, expressing their excitement and gratitude.

Felix reflected on the significance of their participation, emphasizing the honor of representing their group and showcasing their unique identity.

“It was such a huge honor because it was our first time as a team, and to go with Tommy Hilfiger to the MET Gala. Like what Chris [Bang Chan’s birth name] said, it’s such an honor but also a pleasure for us to show what our team color is like. It was incredible.” — Felix

The group members were understandably nervous as they entered the event, given their unfamiliarity with the MET Gala. They were immediately greeted by prominent figures.

“Because we didn’t know anything about MET Gala! So, we went in, and then as soon as we got in, we walked up the stairs, and then there was Anna Wintour, Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth.” — Bang Chan

Stray Kids were fortunate to encounter kind individuals, including Marvel actor Chris Hemsworth. He warmly welcomed Bang Chan and Felix, acknowledging their shared Australian roots.

“So we said ‘Hi,’ and then Chris was like, ‘Oh, I know you guys! You guys are two Australians—aww, come here, boys!’” — Bang Chan

Hemsworth, well-known for his role as Thor, made headlines in the K-Pop community by lifting the members off their feet at the MET Gala. Although there is no footage of this event, the boys were eager to recount the experience to their fans.

Bang Chan continued, saying, “He took really great care of us. Baz was there too.”

Felix also mentioned Australian film director Baz Luhrmann, famous for “Moulin Rouge!” and “Elvis.” They enjoyed a pleasant conversation with him.

“Baz Luhrmann was there as well. So, we had a nice chat with him. It was very nice, very nice.” — Felix

The group also had the opportunity to meet athletes like Ben Simmons, highlighting the presence of many fellow Australians at this year’s MET Gala.

“Ben Simmons, the basketball player, who is actually from and born in Australia, he was there. There were a lot.” — Bang Chan

Stray Kids’ 2024 MET Gala experience was a memorable event, filled with meaningful interactions and the chance to represent their team on a global stage.
